Young children develop knowledge, skills and competences in the diferent developmental domains at their own pace. It is very hard to compare one 4-year old wit another, most likely they will have different pathways to grow towards school readiness. This is only one of the many reasons why observing and assessing young learners in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is key:

  • To understand children's characters, temperaments, identities, choices and motivations,
  • To know their interests
  • To get insights into children's learning strengths, weaknesses and needs.
